I'm hosting a DJ workshop in the new year!

On January 17, join me all day at The Open Studios for a DJ workshop and showcase.

If you've ever been interested in learning the artform of DJing, this might be right up your alley. During my holiday downtime, I'm designing a bit of a course to go over some of the basic elements of DJing - breaking down what exactly it is I do behind the decks.

You'll learn a bit of music theory, beat matching (by ear), some of the basic functions of a Digital Vinyl System (DVS) like Serato, song selection, and a few more tips and tricks to help get you started on your path to rocking your own set.

No prior experience required!

This workshop is happening at The Open Studios - an all-ages creative arts hub at the Pacific School of Innovation and Inquiry (inside Nootka Court). It'll be on Saturday, January 17 from 10am - 3pm (we break at noon for lunch).

Then, later that evening I'll headline a fun DJ showcase in that space with 11-year-old DJ prodigy, DJ Lion, and one-or-two other youth DJs playing opening sets.

We've designed the entire day to be an affordable experience for those really interested in learning the artform without having to break the bank. $50 gets you into the workshop and an additional $10 will get you a ticket to the show later that evening.
